Family loan agreement
What it doesTests whether to lend at all, prices the loan, then drafts the agreement in plain English.
Small instruments for the decisions that usually get made in a hurry: whether to lend, gift or tip.

Run the numbers before the money moves, while a clean no is still easy to say.
Settle the tip and the split before the check arrives, so nothing is worked out aloud.
The same three things are true of all of them.

No. Each tool opens and works straight away, with no sign-up and no email address. The calculations run in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to a server or saved after you leave the page. If you want a record, print or copy the result before you close the tab.
Start with the family loan agreementUp to $19,000 per person, as long as the recipient can use the money now. Above that you generally file Form 709, but filing rarely means paying: the excess is subtracted from your lifetime exemption. Tuition and medical bills paid directly to the school or provider do not count toward the limit.
Check a gift in the calculatorIt does not have to, but a loan below the IRS Applicable Federal Rate can be treated as if you received the forgone interest and gave it to the borrower as a gift. The rule does not apply while the total outstanding between you is $10,000 or less, unless the money buys income-producing assets.
Check your rate against the AFRYes. Once you have filled in the names, amount, rate and schedule, you can print the agreement or save it as a PDF, copy the text, or download it as a .txt or .doc file. It is written in plain English, and it is worth having a lawyer read it before anyone signs.
Open the agreement generatorIt works out the tip on the whole bill, adds it to the bill and tax, then divides the total by the number of people. You can tip on the pre-tax amount or the total, load a US service preset or a country’s norm, and round each share up to the next dollar.
